The latest Council of Australian Governments’ Meeting in Canberra on 29 November 2008 agreed to a Health Prevention National Partnership to improve the health of all Australians.
Included in this agreement is the provision for funding of incentives for workplaces and local communities to provide physical activity and other risk modification and healthy living programs.
It is hoped that this funding will lead to reductions in the proportion of people who smoke, are at unhealthy bodyweight, and/or do not meet national guidelines for physical activity and healthy eating.
