As a senior member of the Corporate Environmental team, you will be responsible for leading continuous environmental performance outcomes within the organisation, particularly in the areas of carbon management, energy efficiency and GHG emissions reductions. You will also be the main technical representative within the corporate environmental team, managing initiatives in the field.

You will have a diverse coverage through your responsibility for the ongoing management, collation, analysis and auditing of all environmental and sustainability data and reporting. This will include the preparation and maintenance of the GHG and energy inventory, and management of all associated environmental indicators and requirements in accordance with GRI, IPIECA and OGP.

Utilising your multi-disciplined technical expertise, you will be working in partnership across the various developing projects and existing operational assets to identify and evaluate opportunities for continuous environmental performance improvement. There will be a particular coverage for GHG emissions reductions and energy efficiency, but also across other environmental deliverables.

It will be essential that you will have several years’ experience in preparing business cases and analyses to support investment decisions and initiatives, including for example GHG/ energy modelling, marginal cost of abatement and supporting compelling commercial rationale.

You will support the leadership team to identify/ determine environmental targets, KPI’s and commitments; be responsible for ongoing measurement and monitoring; and provide technical and commercial support to operations to ensure performance against those targets.

Through your ongoing involvement in various operational environmental areas in the business, you will be expected to design and implement any identified system improvements resulting from ongoing evaluation and audit processes and changing market expectations.  You will also support in the development of specific documentation systems, processes and procedures to facilitate desired sustainability outcomes, external reporting accountabilities and to ensure continuous improvement.

You will lead and manage specific environmental initiatives and projects that progress continuous environmental performance or innovation, set by the business and build expertise within the team to enable the transitioning this capability over time.

Providing the corporate team with oversight of ISO14001, providing technical expertise and guidance on best practice implementation and continuous improvement, and ensuring outcomes are in alignment with the business. You will also have involvement in preparing the annual report for CDP, or similar external reports as they arise.

In addition to collaborating with technical specialists for areas such as CDM project identification and implementation oversight, you will also provide technical support and assist with building sustainability capability across the company.

In addition to having excellent communication and reporting skills, you will have the ability to manage multiple projects and be effective in engaging internal and external stakeholders. Having relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental engineering and a several years experience in both an operational corporate position would be essential.

Experience in the oil and gas sector, especially within an operating company would highly desirable, but candidates with experience in related markets such as mining, energy or industrial markets would also be considered. You must have experience in driving the environmental performance related to operational assets with a connection to developing best practice within the
company.
